Gjelina ~ Los Angeles

My sister and I have nearly the exact same palette, so when she came home raving about a restaurant she had been to in Venice that "captured all the flavors of our childhood" I was intrigued. I didn't actually make it to this restaurant until my most recent trip to Southern California, and fortunately, she was there to go with me.

Gjelina was bustling when we arrived, but we managed seats on the back patio, which was filled with sunlight and laughing Sunday brunchers. It felt nice to be back in southern California again.

The food was wonderful, beautiful, and full of flavor. We ordered the duck confit hash, young kale salad, tartine with English peas and watercress, blueberry ricotta pancakes, and roasted cauliflower. The cauliflower was my favorite. It was lightly charred, tender-crisp, and slightly spicy. I would eat it every day if I could.
