Frenchie ~ Paris
Frenchie isn’t located in a top tourist neighborhood of Paris, but the restaurant was featured on an episode of Anthony Bourdain, so I wasn’t that surprised to see other tourists wandering down the obscure Rue de Nil.
The dining room was very small and minimalist, but in a way that felt intimate instead of cold. I sat at a window so that I could watch a couple film a youtube video outside.
Our hipster server, who would have seemed completely in context in LA but felt very unlikely in Paris, guided us in a soft voice through the menu options. He was unfazed when I asked if I could take photos of the food.
The food was fun, dynamic and unexpected. It turned out to be one of the best meals I have had in Paris, or anywhere.
